Tamale Mirundi, the former press secretary for the president, was put to rest on Sunday. The ceremony was held in the Kyotera district’s Kalisizo.
But his demand to be buried standing was denied by his relatives.
The family said that they could not break the Buganda custom of placing the deceased to rest while lying down, according to accounts in the local newspaper.
Tamale Mirundi died at Kisubi Hospital in Kampala on Tuesday.
Hundreds of people attended the burial ceremony, including Jessica Alupo, the vice president of Uganda, ministers, members of parliament, friends, and family.
