Phiona Nyamutooro, the state minister of energy and minerals, has talked candidly about her early experiences with Grammy Award–winning musician Eddy Kenzo.
The minister clarified that Kenzo’s personality and philosophy on life were the main reasons she initially selected him. She insisted on loving Kenzo despite friends’ advice to turn down his marriage proposal because of his lack of education, and she does not regret it.
“I was criticized by friends at first, and many told me not to marry Kenzo because of his education status, but I refused. I liked his character and the way he looked at life; I saw something in him that was different,” she said during a party organized to celebrate Kenzo’s appointment as a Presidential Advisor.
Additionally, Nyamutooro claimed that she had no say in Kenzo’s hiring.
